How much does it cost?
Make sure to ask your DJ how much he charges, and to compare his prices with the prices of other DJs. This will help you make a choice on which DJ you can afford.
Does he charge overtime?
Make sure you find out if your DJ will charge you for overtime if your reception goes for longer than estimated. This way you wont be unexpectedly slugged with more fees.
Always find out if he takes song requests on the day! Song requests are quite often not taken by DJs as they may not have the music. This is often overlooked and it is always wise to check.
Ask your DJ if he has any feedback to refer you to. If not, make sure to look up the DJ online for testimonials. It’s always good to see what other people thought of his service before making a decision.
Make sure to find out what genres of music your DJ can play on the day. Try to find a DJ that has the same music that you are after. Consider what music is popular and see if the DJ has the tracks that people listen to on the radio. (Top 100 etc.)
See how much experience your DJ has! Ask him if he has worked at any other venues, such as clubs, parties, and other weddings. You don’t want to end up with a DJ who is new and has little discernment in his field.
This is often overlooked. Ask your DJ if he has an emergency plan in the case of a technical issue. An organized DJ will always have backup equipment in case something goes wrong with the setup. You don’t want to end up with no entertainment on your special day, so make sure you have a prepared DJ!
Find out if your DJ wears a suit to wedding functions. A DJ wearing casual clothing at a wedding looks very unprofessional and out of place. Make sure your DJ takes pride in the way he presents himself.
